I was on the www.careercruising.com website late last night filling out various questions. Questions about my interests, my skills and my education.
This was a super promising opportunity that my friend Jillian Brown told me about. She’s got a gift for helping people find jobs. Seriously, she’s good. Holla Jill!
I filled out every question I could on this site, questions like ‘Do you like to do repetitive tasks with your hands?”, for which I could confidently answer, “uh…NO…”
This was the top ten career match list generated for me:
1. Acting Instructor (Do you think I could fake this? Like, I ‘act’ as an Acting Coach?)
2. Actor
3. ESL teacher
4. Comedian (I talked about this once, and Dan scoffed at me. He meant well–comedians lead crappy lives)
5. Adult Education teacher
6. Mediator
7. Motivational Speaker (should I now live in a van down by the river?!?)
8. Career Coach
9. Corporate Trainer
10. Community Worker
Others on my Top 40 list:
14. Tour Guide (congratulations mom, your daughter is a living version of ‘Tour guide Barbie!’)
23. Inventor (of what? Mildly funny comments? Well timed snappy come-backs?)
24. Artist, 28. Singer, 31. Director, 35. Producer, 39. Dancer…and 40.? LIBRARIAN.
What if I became a librarian who was so fabulous that I couldn’t help but break out in song and dance while coordinating all the other staff in an amazing back up ensemble to supersede that of the long-running Broadway musical ‘Cats’!?! Everyday I’d sit down and turn my computer on, and it would be set to play a new Broadway-ish background score!
THIS IS WHAT I’LL DO WITH MY LIFE! THANK YOU CARERRCRUISING.COM! MY SEARCH IS OVER!
Ok, sorry that was so sarcastic. I really do think that the site did help me. It helped me realize that maybe I do have to take some major risks to seriously make a go of involvement in the Arts community. I’m really thankful for that.
So, it seems like the two categories of careers seemed to be grouping themselves in ‘health and human services’ and ‘arts and culture’.
Tell me your vote! We’ll see what I can do!

it took me a couple seconds to figure out whose blog this was. I cruised over from the incoming links. For a couple of minutes I thought that it was Michael P. P.s. I don’t scoff.
